Mid to Longterm Vision
Our History
August 27th, 2021
The Beginning
Joginder Singh Grewal, Inderjeet Singh and Ushpreet Singh received the keys to the building from Salvation Army on behalf of Guru Nanak Sikh Organization of Yukon.
This property was bought for $475,000.00 plus another $50,000 was spent on renovations.
Several volunteers spent day and night for next few week’s converting the half way house to our own home GURDWARA AKALJOT SAHIB

2022-2023
Investing in our future
In 2022-2023 another $755,000 was invested to hook up water and sewer services from the City.
2024
Investing in our future
Invested $60,000.00 in following infrastructure:
- Installed a Nishan Sahib
- Extended the lobby and the mud room of the Gurdwara Sahib
- Parking lot expansion
- Built a Volleyball court
- Created two full time paid positions to run day to day affairs of the Gurdwara Sahib.
- Joined the Spiritual Care Committee at Whitehorse General Hospital,helping the patients with Spiritual care needs.

Investing in our future
Invested $40,000.00 in following infrastructure:
- A front Deck was constructed, featuring domes on top of the pillars - a design that beautifully merges northern rustic elements with traditional architectural charm
- The Gurdwara Building expansion project has been entrusted to S.no architecture, a local architectural and design firm known for its creative and community-oriented designs.
- Joined Yukon Local Immigration partnership
- started Gurbani and Kirtan lessons on Saturdays

Currently we provide short term shelter, Langer and Gurbani programs are performed every day in the morning and evenings.
